Welcome to the Mooseum

How and where it all started? Where are we going? (Other than all the museums)

It all began during a visit to the American Museum of Natural History. Despite spending four full hours wandering among dinosaurs, sparkling minerals, and ancient artifacts, my partner and I left knowing that we'd somehow still managed to miss entire sections. You know that feeling—like you just watched a great movie but skipped the last twenty minutes. What were we missing? Which exhibit was the one that would’ve been the cherry on top? The nagging questions lingered.

That’s when the idea hit me: what if I had an interactive tour to guide me through the museum—something that would let me plan my visit ahead of time? I could choose the exhibitions I really wanted to see, make sure I didn't miss any highlights, and feel confident that I’d used my time well. As someone who works in indoor mapping, I realized I might be the perfect person to scratch this particular itch. I could build the app that would have made that museum visit perfect.

But it didn’t stop there. As I started imagining this interactive guide, I realized what I wanted wasn’t just a map. I wanted a deeper experience—something that would let me learn more about the artifacts, the time periods, the cultures behind them. I wanted to hear the story behind the Roman Empire—not just skim through a plaque while avoiding a group of rowdy kids on a school trip. And I knew that AI voices had come far enough that they could deliver that experience. A voice that’s engaging enough to make you feel like you're traveling back in time while you walk the halls of an exhibit.

So, that’s how the Mooseum app was born. An idea sparked by a missed opportunity, nurtured by a love of history, and brought to life with a bit of indoor mapping magic from Mappedin. I wanted to create a way to make museum visits richer, more organized, and—most importantly—more personal. Whether you’re fascinated by dinosaurs, art, or ancient empires, the Mooseum app is here to guide you, to narrate the journey, and to make sure you don’t leave with that 'what did I miss?' feeling.

And now, here we are, on a mission to bring Mooseum to life in as many museums as possible. Today, we have voice guides for one museum and six museums with interactive, 3D maps with points of interests and wayfinding capability. Join us as we map our way through history, art, and culture, one exhibit at a time.
