Film, television, videogames, digital culture and art all fall within the remit of ACMI, Australia's national museum of screen culture. Formerly known as the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, it was established in 2002 and is based at Federation Square in Melbourne.
At its core is the permanent exhibition The Story of the Moving Image, shown alongside a range of curated exhibitions. ACMI also works as a cinematheque, with a regular program of film screenings and events, and it holds a library and an online collection of film and video. An education program rounds out its activities, making it suited to anyone with an interest in screen culture, from film-goers and gamers to students.
