Germany's largest collection of architectural exhibits, by a wide margin, belongs to the Architecture Museum of the Technical University of Munich (Architekturmuseum der Technischen Universität München). The university founded it in 1868, and it operates as a research museum devoted to architectural history.
Its main exhibition rooms are in Munich, in the same building as the Pinakothek der Moderne. A branch, the Architekturmuseum Schwaben (Architecture Museum of Swabia), is in Augsburg.
