A pre-war Peranakan terrace house on Neil Road, Baba House was once the home of the family of Wee Bin, a 19th-century shipping tycoon who settled in Singapore after arriving from the southern Chinese province of Fujian. Today the house itself is the main exhibit, presenting Peranakan history, architecture and heritage within a traditional family home.
Also known as NUS Baba House, it has operated as a museum since 2008. It is an outpost of the National University of Singapore's NUS Museum and is co-managed by the NUS Centre for the Arts. It suits visitors interested in Peranakan culture and in Singapore's historic domestic architecture.
