Set inside the circular test track of the China National Railway Test Centre, the China Railway Museum (中国铁道博物馆) preserves locomotives that have run on the railways of the People's Republic of China. The main site lies in Chaoyang District, about 15 kilometres northeast of downtown Beijing, and was founded in 2002.
The locomotives stand on eight exhibition tracks within 16,500 square metres of exhibition space. The museum also has a branch in central Beijing, in the former Zhengyangmen East Railway Station near Tian'anmen Square.
