Cantilevered out over the Arkansas River, the main building of the Clinton Presidential Center echoes Bill Clinton's campaign promise of "building a bridge to the 21st century." Designed by Polshek Partnership, it sits on 17 acres beside the river and Interstate 30. With nearly 69,000 square feet of floor space, it is the largest presidential library by physical area. Its formal name is the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum.
The museum, with exhibitions designed by Ralph Appelbaum Associates, presents artifacts from Clinton's two terms as the 42nd president, from 1993 to 2001. It includes full-scale replicas of the Clinton-era Oval Office and Cabinet Room. The archive, run by the National Archives and Records Administration, holds around 80 million documents, 21 million emails and 2.6 million photographs.
Founded in 2004 and funded entirely by private donations, the center also houses the Clinton Foundation and the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. It suits visitors interested in the modern American presidency and contemporary architecture.
