Founded in 1963 by Gerhard Lamprecht, the Deutsche Kinemathek, known in full as Deutsche Kinemathek – Museum für Film und Fernsehen Berlin (German Cinematheque – Museum of Film and Television Berlin), is a film archive dedicated to preserving and sharing German and international film heritage.
Since 2006 its Television Collection has also made German television accessible to the public, so the institution covers both cinema and the small screen. It suits visitors interested in the history of film and television.
