The Nefertiti Bust is the centrepiece of the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection (Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung), which holds one of the world's most important collections of ancient Egyptian artefacts. As its full name indicates, it also includes a papyrus collection.
The collection was founded in 1828 by Alexander von Humboldt and King Frederick William III of Prussia. Since 1855 it has been part of the Neues Museum on Berlin's Museum Island.
