Few museums in Catalonia draw more people than this one, which records the history of one of the world's best-known football clubs and attracts more than one and a half million visitors a year. Signs in Catalan call it the Museu del FC Barcelona, and it sits within the Camp Nou stadium complex, the club's home ground.
The displays follow the club from its founding in 1899 to the present, through trophies, photographs, shirts, boots, documents and other memorabilia. The trophy collection is the centrepiece, including the European Cups and Champions League titles won by the club, alongside material on the players and coaches who shaped its style of play. The exhibits also touch on the club's place in Catalan identity, captured in its motto Més que un club, more than a club.
The museum opened in 1984 and suits football fans most, though anyone curious about the city's sporting culture will find plenty to look at.
