The oldest surviving stone building in Riga, the former St. George's Church, houses the Latvian Museum of Decorative Arts and Design. As its name indicates, the museum is dedicated to decorative arts and design.
It was established on 1 January 1989 and opened to the public on 6 July that year. In 2013 the building hosted the opening and closing plenary sessions of the Northern Future Forum, a gathering of prime ministers from the UK and the Nordic and Baltic countries.
