Founded in 1904, Liberec Zoo, signed in Czech as Zoologická zahrada Liberec, is the oldest zoo in the Czech Republic. More than a century after its founding, it remains one of the best-known attractions in the northern Bohemian city of Liberec.
The zoo keeps a broad collection of animals from around the world in a compact, hilly setting on the edge of the city. Paths and enclosures have been reworked many times over its long history, so the grounds mix older parts of the park with newer exhibits.
The zoo draws around 400,000 visitors a year. Its manageable size suits families with children and anyone looking for a relaxed outing of a few hours.
