Finds from Les Maleses, an Iberian settlement in the Catalan Coastal Range on the outskirts of Montcada, are at the core of the Montcada Municipal Museum's collection. Signs give its Catalan name, Museu Municipal de Montcada. Founded in 1982 to recover, conserve and protect local heritage, the museum has occupied the old Casa de la Vila, the former town hall of Montcada i Reixac, since 1987.
The permanent exhibition has five areas. It starts with the local environment, mineralogy and palaeontology, then moves through prehistory and the Iberian world to medieval and modern Montcada, and ends with the contemporary town. This sequence suits visitors interested in archaeology and in how one Catalan community developed over time. The museum belongs to the Barcelona Provincial Council's Local Museum Network.
