The Museum of Soho meets the public through a large interactive touchscreen on Sherwood Street, opposite the Piccadilly Theatre. Passers-by can use it to browse galleries, photographs and articles about Soho from the street.
Behind the screen is a virtual museum with a physical collection. Started around 1991, it is an independent, community-based group that aims to give artefacts and documents relating to Soho a safe haven and to have them recorded professionally. It is also building a database and locations guide for the whole collection and investigating digital media for the museum's future development.
