Founded as the educational arm of the human rights organization the Simon Wiesenthal Center, the Museum of Tolerance, also known as Beit HaShoah ("House of the Holocaust"), uses multimedia exhibits to examine racism and prejudice around the world. Its strongest focus is the history of the Holocaust.
The museum's scope extends to atrocities in Cambodia and Latin America and to present-day issues such as bullying and hate crimes. It opened in Los Angeles in 1993 and now draws about 350,000 visitors a year. An associated museum and multimedia professional development training facility operates in New York City.
