National Museum of Western Art

The National Museum of Western Art in Ueno Park, Tokyo, is Japan's main public gallery for art in the Western tradition. It was established in 1959 and grew out of the collection of industrialist Kōjirō Matsukata. It holds about 4,500 works, mainly paintings and sculpture from the 14th to the early 20th century, plus drawings and prints.
