Behind one of the most notable eclectic-style facades in Argentina sits a water pumping station. The Palace of Running Waters (Palacio de Aguas Corrientes) was built in the 19th century to house water tanks, and its architecture draws on eclectic and Beaux-Arts styles.
Inaugurated in 1894, the building later served as headquarters of the state-owned company Obras Sanitarias de la Nación. It is administered by Agua y Saneamientos Argentinos (AySA) and was declared a National Historic Monument of Argentina in 1989.
