Science Gallery has no permanent collection. Instead, it stages three to four temporary exhibitions each year, with artistic exhibitions and lectures aimed at science outreach and collaboration between art and science.
The Dublin gallery is the original. It opened in 2008 in the Naughton Institute at Trinity College Dublin, developed from a concept by a group connected to the university. The idea has since grown into an international group of public science centres, each run by a major academic institution in partnership with Science Gallery International. Five galleries had been established by the end of 2020.
