From 1901 to 1903, composer Scott Joplin lived in the house at 2658 Delmar Boulevard in St. Louis, and it is preserved today as the Scott Joplin House State Historic Site. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources maintains the house and its surroundings as a state historic site, and it operates as a historic house museum and an African-American museum.
The house, known formally as the Scott Joplin Residence, was added to the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976. The historic site was founded in 1983. It suits visitors interested in Joplin's life and in the places connected to African-American history in St. Louis.
