Founded in 1897 by Georgi Zlatarski, the Sofia University Museum of Paleontology and Historical Geology (Bulgarian: Музей по палеонтология и исторична геология към Софийския университет "Свети Климент Охридски") is housed in the main building of Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. As a university museum, it is devoted to paleontology, the study of ancient life through fossils, and to historical geology, which reads Earth's past from the rock record.
