The Tower of London is a historic citadel and castle on the north bank of the River Thames in London. It was founded toward the end of 1066 as part of the Norman Conquest, and its keep was built from 1078 under William the Conqueror. The complex was expanded in the 12th and 13th centuries, chiefly under Richard I, Henry III and Edward I.
