Switzerland's largest collection of musical instruments belongs to the Music Museum, known on signs as the Musikmuseum. Founded in 2000, it is one of the three branches of the Historisches Museum Basel and is listed as a Swiss cultural property of national significance.
The displays cover five centuries of music history in three areas. The first traces the history of music-making in Basel. The second covers concerts, choral music and dance, and the third covers parades, festivals and signals.
