Opened as a house museum in 1956, the former residence on Fucheng Gate Avenue is protected as a Major Historical and Cultural Site at the National Level, China's highest heritage designation.
The museum is dedicated to Lu Xun's life and achievements. Its displays draw on large holdings of manuscripts, photographs and pictures connected with him, which suit visitors interested in the writer and his work. Alongside this material, the museum also holds a large collection of artworks.
