No other building in Georgia was built specifically to house art exhibitions. The Georgian Museum of Fine Arts (ქართული სახვითი ხელოვნების მუზეუმი) stands on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi. Construction began in 2013, and the museum opened to the public in October 2018.
This private museum displays the art collection of the family of Dr. George (Gia) Jokhtaberidze and Manana Shevardadze, who founded Magticom, Georgia's largest telecommunications company. The collection holds more than 3,500 artworks by over 80 artists, all created within the last 70 years. It best suits visitors interested in art from recent decades rather than older periods.
