Built in 1927 for Noel and Kathleen Terry of the Terry's chocolate-manufacturing family, Goddards is an Arts and Crafts house in Dringhouses, on the edge of York. The local architect Walter Brierley designed the house, and George Dillistone laid out the garden.
The house is a Grade I listed building, the highest level of heritage protection in England, and the carriage entrance to the property is listed at Grade II*. The National Trust acquired Goddards in 1984 for use as regional offices, and it now runs it as a historic house museum with its house and garden.
