This Jakarta house is where troops from the presidential bodyguard tried to kidnap General Abdul Haris Nasution on 30 September 1965, during the coup attempt by the 30 September Movement. Nasution escaped, but his daughter, Ade Irma Suryani Nasution, and First Lieutenant Pierre Tendean were killed. Known in Indonesian as Museum Sasmitaloka Jenderal Besar DR. Abdul Haris Nasution, the museum presents the life, career and works of this prominent military figure and former Indonesian Armed Forces Chief of Staff.
Nasution and his family lived here from 1949, when he became Chief of Staff, until his death on 6 September 2000. The museum was founded in 2008. Its displays include items from Nasution's life and dioramas about the coup attempt. It suits visitors interested in Indonesia's military history and the events of 1965.
