Affonso Eduardo Reidy designed the brutalist building of the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro, known in Portuguese as the Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro, or simply MAM. Brutalism is an architectural style known for bold, massive forms, often in exposed concrete.
The museum was founded in 1948 and is devoted to modern art. It stands in the northeastern part of Flamengo Park, in the Centro district on Guanabara Bay, just west of Santos Dumont Airport.
