Peru's largest and oldest museum, the Museo Nacional de Arqueología, Antropología e Historia del Perú (MNAAHP) was founded in 1822. It occupies the Palacio de la Magdalena on the main square of Pueblo Libre, a district of Lima.
The collection numbers more than 100,000 artifacts and spans the entire history of human occupation in what is now Peru. Its highlights include the Raimondi Stele and a large scale model of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. With that breadth, the museum suits visitors who want an overview of Peru's past in a single place.
