Founded in 1752 by Ferdinand VI, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando (Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando) is an art academy that also functions as a museum and gallery. It stands on the Calle de Alcalá in central Madrid, and its building is credited to the architect José Benito de Churriguera.
The academy is a public law corporation, a body established under public law rather than as a private institution. Together with Spain's other royal academies, it forms part of the Instituto de España.
