The legacy of General José de San Martín, the Liberator of Argentina, Chile and Peru, is the sole focus of the San Martín National Institute (Instituto Nacional Sanmartiniano), a cultural foundation in Buenos Aires that is also classed as a military museum.
José Pacífico Otero founded the institute in 1933. Its building, recorded as a replica, is a National Historical Monument of Argentina.
