Founded in 1907 by Robert Hopkin, the Scarab Club, also known as the Historic Scarab Club of Detroit, is a working artists' club that also serves as a gallery and studio. Its Renaissance Revival building at 217 Farnsworth Street was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1974 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
The club sits in Detroit's Cultural Center Historic District, near the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Detroit Science Center.
