Sweden's military past, including its modern policy of neutrality, is the subject of the Swedish Army Museum, signed as Armémuseum, in Stockholm's Östermalm district. Its displays trace the military history of the country and of the Swedish Army.
Founded in 1879 by Carl Leijonhufvud, the museum reopened in 2002 after a long period of closure. Three years later it was named the best museum in Stockholm. It draws more than 85,000 visitors a year.
