Housed in its own building at Siam Commercial Bank's Ratchayothin headquarters, the Thai Bank Museum (พิพิธภัณฑ์ธนาคารไทย) traces the evolution of Thailand's financial and banking systems. The bank founded it to gather and preserve the documents and tools that record this development, and its displays centre on historical financial and banking artifacts.
The museum first opened in 1983 at the bank's Talad Noi branch. It later moved to the headquarters in Chatuchak District, where its official opening took place in 1996. It was refurbished for the bank's centennial, and Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn made an official visit in 2007. The museum also serves as a place for academic research, which makes it well suited to students and scholars of Thai banking and finance.
