British cartoons, caricatures and comic strips are the focus of the Cartoon Museum, an independent London museum founded in 2006 and run by the charity the Cartoon Art Trust. Its collection holds more than 4,000 original cartoons and prints, and a rotating display of over 250 exhibits drawn from it fills the gallery.
The museum's stated aim is to preserve the best of British cartoons, caricatures, comics and animation, and to make cartoon art past and present accessible for education, research and enjoyment. Alongside the gallery, a library of more than 5,000 books and 4,000 comics serves readers and researchers, and the museum publishes its own catalogues.
