A scale model of the entire Beijing metropolitan area is the centrepiece of the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall (北京市规划展览馆), a museum devoted to urban planning in the Chinese capital. Multimedia exhibits cover the history of planning in Beijing, the city's current situation and its future development.
The hall stands at 20 Qianmen East Street, beside Tiananmen Square, in the city's old main railway station building, which dates from 1903. It opened to the public in September 2004.
