Bamboo and wooden slips, known in Chinese as jiandu, are the sole focus of the Changsha Jiandu Museum (长沙简牍博物馆). These narrow strips of bamboo or wood served as a writing surface in ancient China, and the museum is devoted to collecting, preserving, arranging, studying and exhibiting them. Its single theme makes it best suited to visitors with an interest in early Chinese writing and written records.
Founded in 2002, it is a large, modern themed museum covering about 14,100 square metres. It stands at No. 92 Baisha Road in Tianxin District, with Baisha Well directly to the south and Tianxin Pavilion to the west.
