Three earlier Barcelona institutions now share one home at the Design Museum of Barcelona (Museu del Disseny de Barcelona): the former Museu de les Arts Decoratives, the Museu Tèxtil i d'Indumentària and the collection of the Gabinet de les Arts Gràfiques. Their merger produced a single museum whose new headquarters opened in stages during 2014.
The museum covers four branches of design: space design, product design, information design and fashion. It is a centre of the city's Institute of Culture and works as both a museum and a laboratory, with the aim of promoting a better understanding and good use of design. Its headquarters stands on Plaça de les Glòries, next to Torre Agbar.
