Serbia's history from prehistory to the present day is the single subject of the Historical Museum of Serbia (Istorijski muzej Srbije, often shortened to IMUS), a public institution founded in 1963 to document the country's past. Its collection now holds more than 35,000 exhibits.
For much of its existence the museum has moved between different locations around Belgrade. In 2020, as part of the Belgrade Waterfront development project, it was granted the historic building of the Belgrade Main railway station as its new permanent base. It is regarded as one of the leading history museums in the city and in Serbia.
