The cultural history of gender and sexuality in Denmark is the subject of KØN, Gender Museum Denmark, a history museum in Aarhus. The Danish word køn means gender or sex. The museum was founded on 31 October 1982 as a women's history museum called Kvindemuseet (the Women's Museum) and later broadened its focus to gender as a whole.
Since 1984 the museum has occupied the former Aarhus City Hall, a building from 1857 designed by the architect Ferdinand Thielemann.
