Founded in 1981 by the artist Rufino Tamayo, the Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo (also known as the Museo Rufino Tamayo) builds its exhibitions around his own art collection as well as its holdings of modern and contemporary art. This public museum stands in Mexico City's Chapultepec Park.
The building is itself a draw. Mexican architects Teodoro González de León and Abraham Zabludovsky designed it, and in 1982 both received the National Award of Science and Art in Fine Arts for the work. Visitors interested in contemporary art and in Mexican architecture will find both here.
