Museum MACAN is the first museum in Indonesia to hold a collection of both modern and contemporary Indonesian and international art. It opened in November 2017 at Kebon Jeruk in West Jakarta, and a year later Time magazine named it one of the World's 100 Greatest Places of 2018.
The building has about 7,100 square metres of floor space, roughly 4,000 of them given over to displays. That makes it a natural stop for visitors who want to see Indonesian artists alongside their international contemporaries in a single setting.
