Run by the Kompas Gramedia Group, Bentara Budaya Jakarta is the capital's branch of the Bentara Budaya cultural network, which also has centres in Yogyakarta, Bali and Surakarta, where it operates as Balai Soedjatmoko. The Jakarta centre, on Jalan Palmerah Selatan in Central Jakarta, combines a museum with an art gallery.
Its programme spans Indonesian culture from traditional to modern forms. Exhibitions cover fine arts such as painting, sculpture and graphic art, and the centre also hosts performing arts and concerts. It suits visitors interested in Indonesian art in both its traditional and contemporary forms.
