Billed as the first river-themed zoo and aquarium of its kind in Asia, River Wonders is built around freshwater habitats, and its main highlights are the freshwater exhibits and a river boat ride. The park was known as River Safari until it took its current name.
It covers 12 hectares in Mandai, set between the Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari, and forms part of the Mandai Wildlife Reserve alongside those two parks, Bird Paradise and Rainforest Wild. River Wonders dates from 2012 and was built at a cost of 160 million Singapore dollars, with planners expecting around 820,000 visitors a year.
