Built to house enslaved people, the Slave Lodge is one of the oldest buildings in Cape Town, with a history stretching back more than three centuries. It is designated a provincial heritage site.
After its original use, the building housed government offices and later the Old Supreme Court before becoming the South African Cultural History Museum. It is now part of the Iziko Museums of South Africa.
