Zurich's municipal collection of succulent plants, the Sukkulenten-Sammlung Zürich, is a botanical garden devoted entirely to succulents, the plants that store water in thick leaves, stems or roots. Founded in 1931, it is listed as a Swiss cultural property of national significance.
Alongside the living plants, the collection houses a botanic library and a herbarium, an archive of preserved plant specimens. It is also home to the International Organizations for Succulent Plant Research (IOS), which makes it of particular interest to visitors with a serious interest in these plants.
