A former Austro-Hungarian terminus is the setting for this museum of railway and tram transport. Trieste Campo Marzio Railway Museum occupies Trieste Campo Marzio railway station, known in the Austro-Hungarian period as the Trieste Staatsbahnhof and earlier still as the Sankt-Andrae-Bahnhof. It was one of the city's two main terminal stations, and it stands on via Giulio Cesare.
Founded in 1984, the museum holds a collection of around a thousand items covering both trains and trams. It carries Italian national heritage designation, and it suits visitors interested in transport history and the railway heritage of Trieste.
