Dedicated to the martyr Saint Justus, Trieste Cathedral (Basilica cattedrale di San Giusto Martire) is the main church of Trieste and the seat of its Roman Catholic bishop. The building is in the Romanesque style, and in 1899 Pope Leo XIII gave it the rank of minor basilica, an honorary title the papacy grants to churches of particular importance.
The cathedral still serves as a parish church and is also listed as a religious museum. It draws around ten thousand visitors a year.
