The exterior of the Fung Ping Shan Building, home to most of the University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG), is a declared monument under Hong Kong's Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance. The building was graded a Grade II Historic Building in 1981.
Founded in 1953 as the art museum of the University of Hong Kong, UMAG stands at 90 Bonham Road beside the university's East Gate entrance. Its galleries fill the Fung Ping Shan Building and the first floor of the neighbouring TT Tsui Building, and a bridge links the two. The museum store is on the TT Tsui Building's ground floor.
