The house at Dhanmondi 32, also known as Bangabandhu Bhaban, was the personal residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding president of Bangladesh. The flag of Bangladesh was officially hoisted here for the first time before the Bangladesh Liberation War. In 1975 Mujib was assassinated in the house along with most members of his family.
The residence opened as a memorial museum in 1994, and RAJUK listed it as a national heritage site in 2009. The building was partially damaged on 5 August 2024, after the fall of Sheikh Hasina, and was demolished on 5 February 2025.
