As Bangladesh's only science museum, the National Museum of Science and Technology (জাতীয় বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি জাদুঘর) in Dhaka has a national role. Alongside its work as a museum, it organizes science education activities across the country.
The Pakistani government founded the museum on 26 April 1965. It first occupied space in the Dhaka Public Library and moved several times before its permanent building was completed in 1981. After the Bangladesh Liberation War, it became part of the country's Ministry of Science and Technology, which it still belongs to.
