More than 2,000 works covering almost 5,000 years of art, from Ancient Egypt to Impressionism, fill the Rio de Janeiro home of the collector and philanthropist Eva Klabin (1903–1991). The Eva Klabin House Museum, signed in Portuguese as Casa Museu Eva Klabin, is considered one of the largest collections of classical art in any Brazilian museum.
Klabin lived in the house for more than thirty years. She founded the museum as a private institution in 1990, the year before her death, to preserve and display the collection she assembled over her lifetime. The works are shown in the house itself, which carries a heritage designation.
The museum suits visitors drawn to classical art and to collections seen in the domestic setting of the person who gathered them.
